The theme of „Kommet, Ihr Hirten“ presented in the style of a classical swing waltz is then followed by a tutti variation of the melody in 4/4 time and, subsequently, by a tenor saxophone solo, which again returns to the original measure. The arrangement is written in a medium swing tempo and can be mastered – without setting a high standard in view of technical virtuosity - by any truly committed saxophone quartet.
