In 1840, Robert Schumann took five poems by Friedrick Ruckert, set them to music as songs and dedicated them to his beloved Clara as a wedding gift.
Franz Liszt arranged “Dedication” for solo piano in 1849. It was revised by William Scharfenberg and has been set for flute choir by David H. Bailey.
