Hillulah means feast or happy commotion in Hebrew. Composed for the young people of the Petakh-Tikva (Israel) conservatory wind band, it will showcase your ensemble's expression, technique, and brilliance of sound. Broad-sweeping scoring, asymmetrical rhythmic ostinati, tonal and modal melodies plus several bi-tonal sections all add up to a highly dramatic work. The ending is punctuated with sforzando chords, effective use of percussion and driving rhythms that build to a sweeping climax. Intensity, contrast, exotic scales - this piece has it all!
