This delightfully up-beat contemporary piece from Scott Lavender is as the title would suggest—Spring. All parts are accessible (D & Eb major) and melodically and rhythmically interesting. Harmonies are rich with many colorful modulations through related keys. The addition of drum set and electric bass give the orchestration a studio orchestra feel but with the full sonority of the symphonic orchestra behind it. It would be a fine piece for either concert program or ceremonial occasion.
