This beloved folk song from the Scottish Isles is here transcribed for flute solo (or section) and band. The accompaniment is unique in that it is very lightly scored, leaving the soloist room for self-expression without the necessity of over-blowing. The tempo may be slightly accelerated for young flautists who tend to be short breath supply. This setting is excellent not only for the development of breath control but for the development of muiscal sensitivity as well.
