Offenbach, Jacques (Keck) - Romantic Offenbach
Romantic Offenbach. The title may come as a surprise, as the image of Offenbach as a composer of satirical operettas still dominates. With the Romantic Offenbach series, we want to focus on the other Offenbach and present jewels from Offenbach's still little-performed works, some of which were only made accessible again a few years ago through first publications, which show us a more serious, sometimes melancholy Offenbach, the antithesis to the frenetic exuberance of Parisian life. But there are also arias of deep soulfulness in the well-known Offenbachiads. This volume, the first of two planned with tenor arias, brings together gems from Barkouf, Fantasio, La Belle Hélène, Robinson Crusoe, Orphée aux enfers, Pomme d'api, Les Fées du Rhin, Le Pont des soupirs and Jeanne qui pleure et Jean qui rit. Romantic Offenbach is aimed at trained and aspiring professionals as well as Offenbach fans of all kinds and offers repertoire for recital, study or everyday music-making.
