A deep southern jazz flavor comes through all three movements of this intermediate level suite in classical sonatina form. The 1st movement is the most classic in its features, but its syncopations give a hint of ragtime styling, while the 2nd movements bluesy dotted rhythm feel and left hand melodies are suggestive of George Gershwin. The final exuberant Rondo movement is dance-like and playful, filled with jazzy seventh chords and syncopation.
