Based on a traditional Alentejo carol from southern Portugal, this music of the Magnificat is gentle, soothing, and almost hynotic. Each verse is treated differently, giving the solo voice and all the others an opportunity to sing the melody. May be performed in Portuguese or the singable English translation.
