The works published in this collection are part of works that Léonce de Saint-Martin had designed specifically to fit into the course of the liturgy of the great feasts at Notre-Dame de Paris. These festivals were thus the occasion for a few compositions inspired sometimes by popular songs, sometimes by Gregorian themes.
