This rhythmic and exciting overture in three sections recalls the grandeur of Mount Ben Lomond, a mountain peak located in northern Utah. The melodies in this work represent two contrasting moods: first a stormy, awe-inspiring melodic expression and secondly, a serene and majestic theme that explores the peacefulness of the region. All sections of the band are challenged technically, and most instruments, including several soloists, are given an opportunity to play expressive melodies. (Grade
