La Noche Festiva for Sax Quartet is one of Dennis Anderson’s newest compositions. In five movements, each can be performed separately or ensemble as a complete suite. Each movement represents an authentic Latin musical form and should be carefully approached with an indigenous Latin flavor, sensibility, and ‘attitude’. Vals cómico:The title speaks for itself. This movement is agogic: comical and quirky with cadences and musical phrases seemingly misplaced, but intentional. Many Latin forms employ this technique and it works well with the movement. Vals is the shortest of all the movements and perfect for a humorous encore or vignette presentation.
