"Schon immer interessierte mich die Möglichkeit, nationale Volksinstrumente und klassische europäische Instrumente in einem einzigen interpretatorischen Apparat zu vereinen. Die Mischung ungewöhnlicher Klangfarben, die Kombination der temperierten mit der nicht temperierten Stimmung, das Suchen nach einer klanglichen und dynamischen Balance zwischen Instrumenten mit unterschiedlichen virtuosen Möglichkeiten - all dies sind verlockende Aufgaben für einen Komponisten. In 'Sabah' habe ich mich der Kombination des klassischen Klaviertrios (Violine, Violoncello, Klavier) mit dem chinesischen Nationalinstrument Pipa zugewandt.“

The mixture of unusual tone colours, the combination of tempered with non-tempered tuning, the search for a sonic and dynamic balance between instruments with different virtuoso possibilities - all these factors are enticing tasks for a composer.
