Hatfield, Stephen - Don't Bend Down (SATB & Piano)

A marvellous gospel-funky type of piece, which has anin your face,' aggressive style throughout, but is nonetheless most enjoyable. Contrasts are provided more by the different voicings within the choir than by dynamics, although a full tone is required more or less throughout. What makes it for me is the superb piano accompaniment by Jennifer Greene. A confident choir is needed here, with the ability to be flexible with the rhythms and syncopations which abound, not to mention the odd swoops in the vocal line. An exciting piece.'
