8 simple pieces for elementary string quartets or string orchestras of up to eight-parts. A piano part can be used to fill in for any missing players.  Once book is purchased, parts are photocopiable!

Designed to give beginners their first taste of group playing. Includes an optional very-easy violin part (open strings or first fingers only), and ideas for simple percussion and singing are also given.

The notes and rhythms used correspond to The Essential String Method books 1-3, making these ideal for using alongside the method, or independently.  If using alongside, players should be on Book 2 of the method before tackling these ensemble pieces.

Press Reviews

"She has the teaching process at the forefront of her thinking, yet the pieces are also effective as pieces of music - the hallmark of successful material for early group work ... a great boon for the string teacher working with unpredictably sized groups"
