This documentary video explores the creation of Detlev Glanert's new Double Concerto for two pianos and orchestra, premiered in March 2008. It follows the final three months of preparation, capturing the thrill and excitement of progressing from a totally blank canvas to world premiere.

Borletti-Buitoni Trust (BBT) fellowship winners Simon Crawford-Phillips and Philip Moore used their BBT award to commission Detlev Glanert’s Double Concerto.  Co-commissioned with BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the work was premiered by the piano duo with BBCSSO conducted by Martyn Brabbins at Glasgow City Hall on 15 March 2008. The performance was recorded by BBC Radio 3 for broadcast on 9 August 2008.

Video produced by BBT, with thanks to Detlev Glanert, Simon Crawford-Phillips and Philip Moore, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Martyn Brabbins, Nord-Deutsche Rundfunk and Steinway Hall. Copyright: © Borletti-Buitoni Trust.
