Esa-Pekka Salonen travels to New York to see where Béla Bartók spent his final years in political exile, battling to start a new career and composing works including the Concerto for Orchestra.

Throughout 2011 Esa-Pekka Salonen's major series with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Infernal Dance, explores Bartók's life, influences and music. As well as concerts, talks and events at the Southbank Centre in London, the Philharmonia tours Bartók repertoire in the autumn around the UK and Europe.
