Synopsis

Larose Pompon is in love with the charming Nicole Jobin who lives with her aunt, the widow Jobin. Nicole would like to marry Larose, but the aunt has made a categorical decision that she herself has to marry before Nicole may think of marriage. Thus a husband for Mme Jobin has to be produced. Larose has heard that his boss, Sergeant Lauternik, is in love with Mme Jobin, but that he is too shy to confess to her. Larose helps him, and it is too late when he realizes that he was seriously mistaken: it is not Mme Jobin who Lauternik is in love with but Nicole. Meanwhile, the aunt has begun to be fond of the sergeant, and during a nightly walk, Larose manages to compromise Lauternik in a clever way so that he has to accept the widow.
