The 60th anniversary in 2016 of the death of Gerald Finzi in 1956 offers a focus on the output of this admired British composer, whose music embraces a rich variety of moods, from elegiac lyricism, through spiritual reflection, to radiant joy. His works include the widely performed Clarinet Concerto , exquisite miniatures such as the Romance for strings and Eclogue, and song cycles and choral works such as Dies natalis and Intimations of Immortality which are among the 20th century's most eloquent and sensitive settings of English poetry.
