Marius Felix Lange was born in Berlin in 1968 and received his first violin lessons at the age of eight and his first piano lessons at eleven. From 1980 to 1987 he was a junior student at the Julius Stern Institute of the HdK Berlin. During this time he received numerous prizes as a violinist at “Jugend musiziert” (Youth plays music) and chamber music competitions. After studying violin in Cologne, Lange commenced studying school music in Stuttgart in 1993, which he augmented with the subjects of jazz and popular music from 1997 to 2000 completing the 1st state examination in 2001. His first compositions were also written in Stuttgart. From 1998 to 2002 he studied film music and sound design at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and from 2001 composition with Ulrich Leyendecker in Mannheim (diploma 2006). Among others, he has received commissions for compositions from the following institutions: Basel Theatre, Basel Symphony Orchestra, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Cologne Opera, Philharmonie Luxembourg, Salzburg Festival, Stuttgart State Opera, Zurich Opera House. Marius Felix Lange lives with his family in Potsdam.
