Composer's Notes

This work is about German writer Clemens Brentano, and his imaginary dialogue with his sister, the writer Bettina von Arnim.
This piece is inspired by my residency at Künstlerhaus Schloss Wiepersdorf (home of the von Arnims), where I had an opportunity to live in that beautiful atmosphere of Romanticism, and immerse myself into the rooms, park, novels, poems and music of these fascinating figures.
So, I created an imaginary dialogue between them, which of course could also have taken place in real life.
My listener hears the fragments or blurry words of this conversation, through the prism of the time, as if in a hallucination. Sometimes, it's clearly present, and sometimes, again drifts back through the centuries.
The music of Brentano’s poem "Laß rauschen Lieb, laß rauschen" also sometimes appears, hidden between other sounds in the score.
