Grade by Grade cello series now published

The latest instrument in Boosey & Hawkes’s Grade by Grade series is cello, with books containing repertoire for grades 1-5 now published.
Grade by Grade cello books 1-5 are the latest publications in the Grade by Grade series, which also encompasses titles for alto saxophone, clarinet, flute, oboe, piano and trumpet. Carefully selected by Miriam Lowbury, each graded practical anthology in the cello series provides the complete repertoire resource for the aspiring player and creates the perfect package for teaching, exam preparation and performance.
The cello series augments the existing titles for string players – the double bass titles (edited by Cathy Elliott) were published in 2019, and the violin titles (edited by Liz Partridge) were released in 2024. Books for viola (edited by Liz Partridge) will be published later this year.
Each volume contains:
• a diverse collection of pieces, each complemented by a useful practice and performance tip
• grade-appropriate scales and arpeggios linked to the repertoire through bespoke text and exercises
• brand new sight-reading, music-theory and improvisation activities
• newly-commissioned aural awareness tasks
• a piano accompaniment booklet
Full performance demonstrations, piano accompaniment tracks and grade-appropriate aural awareness resources available online from Spotify, Apple, YouTube, Amazon etc.
