Celebrate America at 250 in 2026

In 2026, the United States of America celebrates its 250th anniversary. In salute of this momentous year, Boosey & Hawkes has published a new programming guide highlighting music written by American composers, and invites musicians and institutions around the globe to join in celebrating the cultural achievements of these creators in 2026.

The brochure features highlights across B&H’s catalog, from bedrock American composers such as Leonard Bernstein and Aaron Copland to contemporary masters John Adams, Steve Reich, and Meredith Monk. A list of catalog highlights are divided into genres: symphonic gems from Steven Mackey, Christopher Rouse, and new signing Courtney Bryan; iconic operas by Osvaldo Golijov, David T. Little, and Carlisle Floyd; choral works from Meredith Monk, Christopher Tin, and Eric Whitacre; and chamber music from Steve Reich, Paquito D’Rivera, and Elliott Carter.

The “America at 250” programming guide begins with an insightful introduction by renowned conductor David Robertson, which delves the unique spirit found in American music, and the complex, rich influences that abound in the music written in this country. The guide also includes five essays by musicologist and American music scholar Matthew Mugmon, providing different frameworks for connecting American music to historical contexts, iconic landmarks, and popular music influences.
