Best-selling author Dan Brown unveils a new symphonic book project for children called Wild Symphony, releasing on September 1, 2020. Boosey & Hawkes will be the licensor and distributor of the music from Wild Symphony in territories worldwide.

Dan Brown, #1 New York Times bestselling author, unveils his latest surprise, Wild Symphony, a symphonic book project for children, releasing on September 1, 2020 by Rodale Kids, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books. Wild Symphony reveals Brown’s background as a lifelong musician and composer who counts himself among those inspired at a young age by Peter and the Wolfe, The Carnival of the Animals, and The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra. Classical music publisher Boosey & Hawkes will distribute the music, recorded by the Zagreb Festival Orchestra in Croatia on PARMA Recordings.

Wild Symphony, Brown’s first symphonic work, began as playful musical sketches of various characters from the animal kingdom, and over the years grew into nearly two dozen musical portraits—from the joyous rhythms of “Bouncing Kangaroo” to the mysterious melodies of “Wondrous Whale” to the hair-raising harmonies of “Brilliant Bat”—and a vibrantly illustrated children’s book featuring pithy poetry and positive morals. The complete work comprises 21 movements, available to be performed in concert by symphonic orchestras with optional narration and image projections.

Dan Brown: “My hope for Wild Symphony is to provide a fun, fresh opportunity for families, parents, children, and people of all ages to reconnect with the magical experience of classical music both in the concert hall and in the home. I hope audiences have as much fun listening as I had composing.”

Boosey & Hawkes Vice President Steven Lankenau: “Boosey & Hawkes is thrilled to work with Dan Brown on this exciting new venture, and to continue expanding our storied catalog of classic works for audiences of all ages with Wild Symphony.”

Live orchestral performances of the Wild Symphony score will take place in dozens of countries worldwide, dates to be shared in the near future.

A preview of the music and behind-the-scenes footage is available now at wildsymphony.com.
