Programme Note

In his new piece ‘Number Nine VIII: Zeitarbeit’ for soloist (piano, sampler, toy piano, melodica, foot pedal and small percussion) and orchestra, Moritz Eggert is interested in a fusion of time and language levels. For this he uses text fragments on 60 years of German history in extremely densely woven music that also incorporates original sounds, music theatre and performance elements. ‘A total overload of all the senses,‘ comments Eggert with a wink, ‘or the depiction of the human perception of the passing of time, which everyone feels always passes ‘too quickly’. If music can depict such a period of time, then only in sweat-inducing ‘time work’.’
