Composer's Notes
“This composition for chorus and orchestra was written in the summer of 2020 soon after the death of my beloved husband, the composer Dmitri Smirnov. I wanted to write music on a poem of Dmitri for whom writing poetry was a kind of favourite hobby. I was told that the world premiere would be together with Symphony No. 9 by Beethoven, so I tried to find for this something connected with joy. His little poem which I used here is really joyful at its end, but in my composition joy falls into abyss, because our happy and joyful life is over.” (Elena Firsova)
