Composer's Notes
The title April Lines simply reflects that the music was composed in the spring, starting in April 1970 and finishing in April 2006. During those 36 years the first, unfinished version was lost and forgotten. I found it by chance and decided to complete the piece.
The sharp contrasts between different textures could perhaps be understood as depicting the changing moods of the ‘cruellest month’.
