Bote & Bock
Three requests that Detlev Glanert received from the United States for short, symphonic orchestral pieces resulted in the idea for a small cycle – in fact, during the conception they became increasingly intertwined so that the impression might even be that of a short, three-movement symphony. But the movements nevertheless remain independent, although the entire basic material, which seems to be inspired by the American tradition (Ives, Copland, Bernstein), is related. The styles range from "fanfare" to jazz, with waltzes, art songs, and other amiable visitors from Old Europe.
