A very slow composition process, lasting over two years with occasional bursts of creative activity, produced a complicated score for baritone and a large orchestra which initially had no prospect of being performed. The voice sings of a great love which is over. Here sadness, aggression, memories, quotations and poetry combine to produce a symphonic scenerey, a psychological sound theatre with instruments; the words form the foundations. The musical architecture is constructed on two tone formulae which repeatedly produce new forms with proliferations and deviations.
