Composer's Notes
Many of my works have been influenced by my love of Polish folk music, this piece being the first. In order to display the purity and beauty of the songs which I selected, I decided to write the vocal melodic line in unison, with a background like a rustic tapestry woven by five woodwinds.
Contrary to the usual practice of quoting the first line of text as a title for each song, I named each one after the place in Poland from which the melody originated.
