Craig Leon is a polymath composer, arranger, ethnomusicologist and record producer * Has arranged and produced best-selling albums for leading labels including Deutsche Grammophon, Decca and Sony Classical * His Joshua Bell album Romance of the Violin (Sony) was US Billboard’s No.1 bestseller in the Classical Artist category for the year 2004 and entered the U.S. pop charts * The Wings of Song album for James Galway (DG) reached No.1 in the UK and No.2 in the US classical charts * Recent releases include Natasha Marsh's debut album Amour (EMI), which entered the UK classical charts at No.1 * Has collaborated on albums with leading vocalists including Luciano Pavarotti, Andreas Scholl, Sting, Deborah Harry and the medieval ensemble Sequentia * Skills as an arranger and transcriber have embraced music by Charles Tomlinson Griffes, and early French, American and British folk music * His music has been choreographed by members of the Twyla Tharp Dance company and Kosh Dance Theatre * His new orchestration of Leonard Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story for percussion and jazz ensemble has been given its world premiere performance by Evelyn Glennie and the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Marin Alsop in 2007.
