The world premiere of the opera ''Grandfather and Grandson, or Two Ages'' to the libretto by Étienne Guillaume François de Favieresa de Favieres, translated by Ludwik Osinski took place on 13 October 1816. On becoming the director of the Warsaw opera in 1858, Stanislaw Moniuszko came across the opera in its library and transcribed its Overture for piano, as is proved by the inscription in Moniuszko's hand on the title page of the extant manuscript arrangement of the Overture. The remaining musical notation of the opera has not been preserved.
