• Barbara Kolb had created a distinctive contemporary form of Impressionism, turbulent yet sensual

• Electronic work from her residency at IRCAM resulted in Millefoglie, which has been performed in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Finland, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, and the U.S.
• Poetic or visual images often inspired her pieces, as in her orchestral work Grisaille (1978-79), named for the painting technique
